About
Who is WSTN?
WSTN is the electronic-pop project of award-winning Melbourne songwriter, vocalist, composer and producer Katie Weston. Drawing on house, disco, funk, electro-pop and UK-influenced rhythmic production, WSTN pairs bold female vocals and emotionally direct songwriting with polished club production, live instrumentation and unapologetically commercial hooks. WSTN’s previous independent single, Conversation Ended, generated more than 41,000 Spotify streams, 6,200 YouTube music-video views and airplay on Melbourne’s JOY 94.9, reaching listeners across Australia and international markets.
The forthcoming four-track EP was developed with ARIA award-winning producer and arranger Ryan Ritchie and a predominantly Victorian creative team. The recordings were mixed and mastered by Steve Scanlon, whose credits include Avicii, Peking Duk, Sgt Slick and Madison Avenue, with additional contributions from respected Melbourne musicians and producers.
Under her own name, Katie is a Green Room Award-winning vocalist, musician and composer whose musical Bloom, written with Tom Gleisner and produced by Working Dog Productions and Melbourne Theatre Company, premiered at Arts Centre Melbourne before a Sydney Theatre Company season. WSTN brings that same musicianship, creative ambition and storytelling instinct into a contemporary electronic setting.
